My name is Kaylei Harkness, I am a fourth year UCSD student, studying art history and preparing to graduate. Most likely, due to the current state of the art and art related market, I will be forced to look for a job outside the means of my major… meaning truly that I’m preparing to get a job in the “real world”.

After spending various opportunities and time applying for jobs that could become careers, internships, scholarships, and the like, I’ve found some of the standard do’s and don’ts when it comes to looking for a job that have truly worked for me. With great trial and error, comes great ups and downs, and I feel like I have either seen, or experienced the best of them.
Currently, I am interning at a renowned art gallery in Laguna Beach, CA, as well as working for the last two years at a medical marketing company in Encinitas, CA. While both of these companies have different specific goals and necessities, I have learned some interesting aspects of what is looked for in different tiers of corporate interviews.
